The Mission of the PeLeWG is to ensure the continued existence of Persian leopards and their prey in coexistence with local communities in their natural habitats.

The Goals are to provide the following services in regard to Persian leopard conservation:

• Accumulate available information
• Inform the authorities
• Provide expert advice and support in development and implementation of conservation actions and framework documents
• Produce and disseminate the 3-year progress report
• Support the IUCN SSC Cat Specialist Group
• Facilitate research and conservation projects on Persian leopards, their prey and habitats
